Motet was commissioned to create a modular furniture system based on a concept of personal display. Inspired by Lina Bo Bardi tables and exhibition furniture in which she painted the underside of glass tabletops white, we added an extra sheet of glass and the ability to arrange photographs between them, also inspired by our favorite pizza restaurant where customers have been adding their own photos under the glass tables for years. In the Motet spirit all the design, fabrication, weaving, and drawing are part of a conceptual whole made by the studio and its partners. The Olitas weaving is based on the Name Drafting techniques developed by coverlet weavers early in the 20 th century in the American South.
